Bertjan Verbeek is Professor of International Relations and Chair of the Department of Political Science at Radboud University Nijmegen.
He is currently carrying out a large-scale international comparative study on (crisis) decision-making in foreign policy. Within this field, he is an expert in:
the influence of domestic politics, especially populism, on decision-making
the role of international organisations during crises
the learning ability of governments during and after crises.
The study focuses on decisions of military deployment (for instance, in the Iraq war) and decisions made during currency crises.
