Sjifra de Leeuw is a PhD Researcher in Political Communication and Journalism at the Amsterdam School of Communication Research (ASCoR), University of Amsterdam.
In her PhD project, she will focus on the electoral and societal ramifications of trials against Anti-Immigrant Parties in Europe. Special attention will be paid to the role of the media in shaping citizens' reactions to these trials. The project mainly relies on longitudinal and cross-sectional data analysis techniques, using (panel) survey, polling and electoral data. This PhD project is embedded in the NWO Vidi Project Defending or Damaging Democracy directed by Joost van Spanje.
Sjifra holds a Master's degree in Comparative Politics (Summa Cum Laude, 2017) from the University of Leuven, Belgium, where she is also pursuing a Master's in Sociology and an Advanced Master's in Statistics (both scheduled in 2018).
